We can fly around the world and into outer space.
We can communicate instantly with anyone, anywhere.
We can see billions and billions of miles away from our planet’s surface.
We can understand, prevent or cure afflictions that long haunted humanity.
It’s hard to imagine how you or I could go even one hour without feeling awe.
And yet, that’s not what happens.
We become jaded, get used to the magic of technology and science, and even learn to ignore the miracles in nature herself. We go weeks or months without being grateful for our blessings.
Literally everything is a miracle. That you were born at all. That you survived to this age. That you have the freedom to travel, learn, socialize, build close bonds with others and express your opinion freely.
That you and I somehow connected and started sharing our perspectives.
My intention for this year is to be more like this:
Childlike. Innocent. Filled with wonder. Enthused about what is coming next. And never willing to leave behind who or what I love the most.
And, yes, that is me, a very long time ago.
I wish for you is a year in which you rediscover awe.
We must be child-like to start each day, great reminder BK!
Wonderful article, Bruce. Funny thing...I would swear you lifted the pic from an old album in my closet :~)
