I'm changing my name!
True confession: my headline is a bit misleading, but I wanted to make sure you opened this issue.
I’m not changing my name. I’m still Bruce Kasanoff.
But I am changing the name of this newsletter, from Being Growing Doing to The Journey with Bruce Kasanoff.
Being > Growing > Doing is still how I think about the process of gaining more clarity and focus. But it proved to be a somewhat unwieldy name, especially for people just stumbling across my work for the first time.
We all know the phrase “the journey is the destination,” but years ago when I was in Telluride, Colorado, the phrase was new to me. An outdoor adventure shop there was using it for their tagline, and I bought a cap with those words and wore it for many years. Over time, I stopped thinking of it as a ski trip souvenir and started to grasp its deeper meaning.
The path to happiness is happiness.
The path to confidence is confidence.
If your joy and pride and purpose is predicated on successful outcomes, then you are in for a life that is a bit disappointing.
The trick is to relish the journey, each and every moment of it. Relish the hard work, the valleys and peaks, the confusion and chaos, the moments of love and anger and reaching towards the sky and crawling through the mud.
The journey is an internal adventure, not an external one. Although I hope you explore every inch of our glorious planet, your path will be determined by what’s in your head, heart and soul.
And now—I hope—you know a bit of why I changed the name.
