I’ve recently discovered that almost no one can imagine their best possible life.
Literally.
We think too small. We are too constricted by self-limiting beliefs, fears and attachments.
One of my clients, a highly successful executive coach, tells me that if you ask most people what they want, they tell you the opposite of what they don’t want:
No more worrying about money
No more working hard and not getting promoted
No more fights with my partner
This is because we have so many attachments and limiting beliefs that we literally don’t allow ourselves to envision a life free of them.
What would it be like to move past such obstacles?
Here are some examples of what you might imagine you could have, once you learn to more fully use your imagination:
A life in which you wake up every morning filled with gratitude, vitality and positive energy
A life in which you feel deeply loved and cherished
Being so comfortable in your own skin that people routinely ask you why you seem so happy and at peace
Feeling each emotion fully, but also allowing them to flow through you without obscuring your judgment or reducing your sense of well being
Making an positive impact on thousands of people, so much so that you have dramatically improved each of their lives
Having mutually supportive relationships that are both deep and deeply fulfilling
Growing—and growing happier—every single year of your life
Using your talents and interests in a full and highly rewarding manner
BTW, it took me a couple of weeks to come up with this list. (Yes, weeks.) Ordinarily, I can write a post in under an hour.
To see what I mean, try adding three bullets to this list. Focus on imagining your own best possible life.
• Spending most of your time doing things you love
Thank You for this unusual point of view. I'm going to reflect a lot on it.
