The Journey #14: Location Matters
12 miles from my house, Little Cottonwood Canyon has received 57” of snow over the past five days, and they are predicted to receive another 20-30” in the next 24 hours. This is the view from a snow plow’s perspective as it tries to reopen the road leading from Salt Lake City up to the Snowbird and Alta ski areas.
As I type this at my house, the sun is trying to come out and I had no problem this morning shoveling the 10” we received.
12 miles is the difference between snowfall deeper than your SUV versus barely enough snow to cover your dachshund.
Location matters.
If you’re in the right place at the right time, bingo! Luck shines on you.
If you’re in the wrong place, well, things might not turn out so well.
The thing is, we have a significant ability to anticipate where the right and wrong places are. You can put yourself in the path of good luck. You can move towards opportunity and away from danger.
These aren’t foolproof strategies, but they still work pretty well.
What might you do to put yourself in the path of good luck? It’s worth some thought.
